TBTK0123D / 04TÜBİTAK 3D PRODUCT FILM
The product,
on its own stage.
For BZLAB, the Blockchain Laboratory at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, we moved the laboratory’s solutions into three-dimensional scenes; camera, lighting and editing built in Unreal Engine tell each one’s story on its own stage.

Case study
Context and goal
Context
BZLAB is an expert centre in blockchain technology and crypto assets, founded in 2017 within TÜBİTAK BİLGEM’s National Electronic and Cryptology Research Institute (UEKAE). It carries out R&D for the needs of public and private organisations, develops solutions in areas such as digital currency, digital identity and payment systems, and provides training and consultancy. Solutions like these are often abstract and technical, which makes it hard to explain what they do in a short time. A visual tool was needed that could explain them to non-specialist audiences as well.
Challenge and goal
Our goal was to make technologies with no obvious on-screen form visually understandable, without compromising their technical accuracy. The film had to introduce five solution areas, from digital identity to crypto-asset monitoring, in a single flow, each on its own stage.
Approach
What we did
Narrative and script
We organised the laboratory’s solutions under five headings: digital identity, digital currency, tokenisation, digital asset custody and Crypto Radar. The film opens with a terminal command, walks through the headings in turn and closes on a status check of all five.
3D scene design
We designed a three-dimensional object derived from the triangle in the TÜBİTAK logo; each solution area is represented by a variation of this object in its own colour. The 3D scenes alternate with scenes showing what the solutions mean in everyday life.
Unreal Engine production
We built camera moves, lighting and materials in Unreal Engine; the glass-and-metal object moves through the same stage set-up in every section, which keeps the five sections consistent as one film.
Edit, sound and delivery
Editing, sound and colour grading completed the 2-minute 37-second film.
Output
Deliverables and outcome
Deliverables
- Script and scene flow
- 3D object, scene and visual language design
- Camera, lighting and materials set up in Unreal Engine
- A 2-minute 37-second product film
- Editing, sound and colour grading
Outcome
BZLAB now has a film that presents five solution areas in one sequence a non-specialist viewer can follow. Because each area has its own colour and stage, the film reads both as a whole and section by section.

Let’s talk about turning a complex product into a visual story. In the first call, we clarify who the film is for, where it will be shown and what it needs to say.
